Family Class

 (birth through age 5)

Each week in Music Together Mixed-age Family Class at Prelude Music Classes, babies, toddlers, preschoolers and the grownups who love them gather for 45 minutes of fun-filled family music time. Your teacher will lead you and the other families in music activities ranging from lullabies to full-on jam sessions (with child-friendly instruments, of course!). It's so much fun you won't realize how much learning is taking place!

You'll take home the award-winning music used in class, along with an illustrated songbook and other resources. As you discover new ways to play with music all week long, you'll be supporting your child's music-learning and overall development---even if you don't think of yourself as a great singer or dancer.

Why mixed ages?

Child development researchers discovered that grouping children of different ages in one class encourages natural, family-style learning, so Music Together developed the Mixed-Age Music Class. In this class, everyone participates at their own levels: babies vocalize, listen and observe; toddlers play and experiment; preschoolers build confidence as they emerge as classroom leaders. Grownups are happy because everyone can come to class together!

Babies Class - Birth to 8 months only

 (Birth to 8 months only)

The one-semester Music Together Babies Class was created especially for families with infants under nine months old. That's right: It's never too early to start our music classes!

Maybe you've noticed that your baby responds when you play a song in the car or sing to soothe him. Babies are naturally musical---and you don't have to be a great singer or dancer yourself to nurture their love of music. In this music class for babies, your Music Together teacher will show you how you can support your baby's music development through simple and fun activities. You'll learn lots of musical ways to connect with your little one through music, and you'll bond with the other new parents in your class, too.

Spanish - Music Together with Spanish

This class offers the exciting opportunity to have a Music Together Family class with the addition of Spanish translations of the songs! We will go through the same song collection as the regular class, but will sing songs first in English, and then in Spanish.

Generations

This is a mixed-age class (birth to 5) that takes place at Brookdale Senior Living Galleria and includes the residents at the facility. These classes create a joyful connection among generations and engage the residents' minds and bodies. The classes are beneficial for staying mentally and physically alert and stir up cherished musical memories for the elderly participants. The classes also inspire the facility staff members to weave music into every day interactions with the elders. The classes help those Prelude families who do not have grandparents in town by providing weekly interactions with the residents who become an extended family to our Prelude Families! Each weekly 45-minute class includes songs, chants, dancing and instrument play. The residents are invited to sit in a circle around the Prelude families and participate in any way they are able and to join in on the fun and music making.
